2022-23 YOUTH HOLIDAY BAILOUT

by Philadelphia Community Bail Fund

This holiday season, help us bring children home from detention. Now through January 8th, PCBF is raising money to post bail for children held on high cash bail in Philadelphia.

Now through January 8, 2023, we are raising money to post bail for children imprisoned on high bails. Right now, over 25 children are imprisoned on high cash bail in the over crowded and unsafe Juvenile Justice Center and in the dilapidated MOD3 prison up on State Road. These children are being held pretrial because their parents cannot afford to pay their bail. Before Thanksgiving, we posted $75,000 to bring home one boy to his family. Now he can go back to school and be with his family before his trial.

We are hoping to raise $100,000 this year so that we can help more children. Last year, we raised just over $61,000 which helped us bring home 8 young people.

We are partnering with the Youth Art Self-empowerment Project to identify children eligible for bail and to provide support to them once they are released.  The Youth Art & Self-empowerment Project (YASP) is building a youth-led movement to end the practice of trying and incarcerating young people as adults and create a world without youth incarceration.  Through their work in the Philadelphia jails, YASP provides space for incarcerated young people to express themselves creatively and to develop as leaders both within and beyond the prison walls.

We thank you so much for your support! Your donation will help reunite a family this holiday season!
